Cookie Policy

Last Updated: February 27, 2026

1. Introduction

This Cookie Policy explains how Listing Upgrade uses cookies and similar tracking technologies when you visit our website. This policy should be read in conjunction with our Privacy Policy.

By using our Service, you consent to the use of essential cookies. For non-essential cookies (analytics), we will ask for your explicit consent through our cookie consent banner. Non-essential cookies are only loaded after you provide consent through the banner.

2. What Are Cookies and Similar Technologies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device (computer, smartphone, tablet) when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used to make websites work more efficiently and provide information to website owners. In addition to cookies, we use similar tracking technologies such as browser fingerprinting and local storage, which are described in this policy.

Cookies can be "persistent" (remain on your device until deleted or expired) or "session" (deleted when you close your browser).

Browser fingerprinting is a technique that collects information about your browser configuration (such as screen resolution, installed fonts, and timezone) to generate a unique identifier. Unlike cookies, fingerprints cannot be deleted from your device because they are computed from your browser's existing settings rather than stored as files.

3. Cookies We Use

3.1 Essential Cookies (Always Active):

These cookies are necessary for the Service to function and cannot be disabled:

Authentication Cookies: Firebase Authentication uses cookies to manage your login session and verify your identity. These cookies are essential for account security. Duration: Session or up to 1 year if "Remember Me" is selected.

Session Cookies: Used to maintain your session state as you navigate through the application. Duration: Session (deleted when browser closes).

Security Cookies: Used to detect and prevent security threats, fraud, and abuse. Duration: Varies, typically 24 hours to 1 year.

3.2 Preference Cookies (Always Active):

Cookie Consent: Stores your cookie consent preferences so we don't ask you again on every visit. Duration: 1 year.

Language Preference: Remembers your selected language (English or German). Duration: 1 year.

3.3 Analytics Cookies (Requires Consent):

These cookies help us understand how visitors use our Service. They are only activated with your explicit consent:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4): We use GA4 to collect anonymized usage data, including pages visited, features used, session duration, and general interaction patterns. Duration: Up to 2 years.

Microsoft Clarity: We use Clarity to record user sessions and generate heatmaps, helping us understand how users interact with pages. Session recordings may capture mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling behavior. Duration: Up to 1 year.

PostHog: We use PostHog for product analytics and session recordings, including page views, feature usage, and navigation patterns. Duration: Up to 1 year.

• Analytics cookies do not collect personally identifiable information and are configured for privacy compliance.

3.4 Device Fingerprinting (Trial Fraud Prevention):

We use FingerprintJS (open-source version) to generate a browser fingerprint hash for users of our free trial features. This technology collects approximately 40 browser signals (such as screen resolution, installed fonts, WebGL renderer, timezone, and language settings) to compute a unique hash. The fingerprint is used solely to limit free trial usage to one per device and prevent abuse. The fingerprint hash is stored on our servers with a 30-day time-to-live (TTL) and is not used for advertising, cross-site tracking, or any purpose other than trial fraud prevention. FingerprintJS runs client-side only; no data is sent to FingerprintJS Inc.

3.5 Marketing Cookies (Requires Consent):

These cookies are used for advertising attribution and are only activated with your explicit consent:

Meta Pixel (_fbp): Set by Meta (Facebook) to identify your browser for advertising attribution. Used to measure the effectiveness of our advertising campaigns on Meta platforms. Duration: 90 days.

Meta Click ID (_fbc): Set when you arrive at our site from a Meta advertisement. Contains the click identifier for conversion attribution. Duration: 90 days.

Note: In addition to client-side Meta Pixel cookies (which require consent), we use the Meta Conversions API for server-side conversion tracking. See our Privacy Policy Section 3.9 for details.

4. Analytics Providers

With your consent, we use the following analytics services to analyze Service usage:

Google Analytics 4 (GA4): Collects anonymized data about page views, navigation patterns, button clicks, feature usage, session duration, device type, browser, general location (country/city level), and user acquisition sources. Data is retained for 14 months. Learn more at Google's Privacy Policy.

Microsoft Clarity: Records user sessions and generates heatmaps to help us understand how users interact with our pages. Recordings capture mouse movements, clicks, and scrolling behavior but do not capture sensitive input fields. Learn more at clarity.microsoft.com.

PostHog: Collects product analytics data including page views, feature usage, and navigation patterns, and provides session recordings. Learn more at posthog.com.

All analytics data is used solely to improve our Service.

5. Managing Your Consent

5.1 Cookie Consent Banner: When you first visit Listing Upgrade, you will see a cookie consent banner asking for permission to use analytics cookies. You can accept or decline.

5.2 Changing Your Mind: You can change your analytics consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies and refreshing the page. The consent banner will reappear, allowing you to make a new choice.

5.3 Essential Cookies: Essential and preference cookies cannot be disabled because they are necessary for the Service to function. Disabling them would prevent you from using core features like logging in.

5.4 Browser Fingerprinting: Browser fingerprinting for trial fraud prevention is processed under our legitimate interest (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f)) in preventing abuse of free trial features. You have the right to object to this processing by contacting support@listingupgrade.com. If you object, you may not be able to use free trial features, but all other Service features remain available with a registered account.
